Tonight’s fare: Yet another incarnation of Donald E. Westlake’s Parker character. Although this one is based on a different novel than Point Break and Payback, there isn’t much noticeable difference here. A standard revenge film. Parker gets screwed over and left for dead, but he doesn’t stay that way long.

This was a strange one. Maybe it was the mood I was in, but I had trouble connecting with it. I usually like Jason Statham, and don’t care much for Jennifer Lopez, but here it was reversed. She was what kept me interested. There was lots of action, and CGI blood. (Does anybody besides me find that stuff to be horribly distracting? Just takes me right out of the film; it’s lazy and unimaginative.) I just kept finding myself daydreaming and checking the clock.

IMDB is high at 6.1, I think. I give it a solid 5. You’ve seen this kind of film before. If you liked those, you’ll like this one. (running time 1:58)
